A watch that lists at PKR 400,000 in a Pakistani boutique did not cost the manufacturer anything close to that. Between the factory and the display case sit freight, duty, an importer’s margin and a retailer’s margin — and the last two are where most of the gap lives.
Buying directly from the manufacturer removes those two layers. Duty and freight still apply, and we still take a margin, but it is one margin instead of three. That is the entire trick, and it is why the number looks implausible at first.
What does not change
The reference, the movement, the serial number and the international warranty card. A watch imported this way is the same object the boutique would hand you, in the same box.
What does change
You are not buying from an authorised dealer, so you do not get that dealer’s own after-sales service. What you get instead is the manufacturer’s international warranty, valid at any authorised service centre anywhere — which for most owners is the more useful of the two.
